A journey of self-discovery, vulnerability, and connection.
Hi, I’m Makayla.
I created To Be Known to help you deeply know yourself, embrace authenticity, and connect meaningfully with others. This project reflects my own journey of growth, and I hope it inspires yours.
From a young age, I struggled with embracing myself and letting others see who I really am. Like many, I felt caught between the desire to connect and the fear of being misunderstood or judged. To work through these challenges, I turned to self-help and spiritual books, podcasts, therapy, and countless hours of reflection. Along the way, I discovered that authenticity, vulnerability, and connection were the keys to truly knowing myself and others.
My academic journey became a vital part of my healing process. I majored in Psychology and minored in Counseling and Social Change at San Diego State University, where I found a deep love for understanding human behavior, relationships, and personal growth. Now, as I pursue my Master’s degree at USC, I continue to invest in expanding my expertise and mission to help others navigate their own paths of self-discovery.
Through To Be Known, I share this journey with you. My hope is to create a safe space where we can all explore what it means to embrace who we are, form deeper connections, and feel truly known.
Why To Be Known Matters
I hope this space grows into a thriving community—a place for honest conversations, shared reflections, and meaningful human connection.
Together, let’s explore the beauty of being truly known.
